SCIENCE INSTRUCTOR

Job Summary Science Subject Instructor (Teacher for Hands-on Science classes in Govt. Schools in area) Responsibilities and Duties To spark Curiosity, Creativity & Humanity. Be energetic and enthusiastic in every session and pass the same to students. To conduct sessions in line with Agastya’s pedagogy that is Hands on, allowing child to explore and ask questions. Be well versed with models / Concepts of his/her department and also know maintenance and minor repairs of models. To facilitate students learning individually or in groups. To make sure students understand the concepts very well rather than just finishing the concept/Model. To learn, keeping all reports and documents updated. To maintain cordial relationship with teachers and school heads who accompany during students visit. To prepare bimonthly class plans and submit well in advance to In charge. To be a team player. He/ She should conduct 2 sessions every day (demo/Activity based). Be prepared with lesson plans and required materials/models. Always have a Plan B Summarize the learning’s after end of each session and leave students with curios pointers to explore themselves. Always relate the concepts to daily life activities Should know and develop a scientific vocabulary and teach using scientific terms and proper and accurate definitions. Keep Individual daily record book updated and get signed weekly by In- charge. Instructor to engage in : Researching answers to questions posed by children/ teachers Identifying interesting community projects for summer and winter camps Current news in science Interesting pedagogical approaches (could be as simple as a way to arrange children in order) or an interesting role-play activity Identifying new charts to display/new ways of arranging the classroom/improving look and feel of science center Generate list of requirements weekly and get the approval by the In charge well in advance. Deliver 45 minutes of presentation bimonthly to the team on new innovations, happenings in science and education etc. Keep inventory and stock of the concerned department and get signed by In charge bimonthly. They should plan activities for the Summer/winter Camps Should clearly understand the deliverables from his/her immediate supervisor Help in developing FAQ to deal with different customers To help in Baseline survey of school Should develop visit plan for Community visit in sync with respective in-charge **Follow up feedback from teachers after few days. (Telephonic ideally) Note: For planning, refer to the Ideal Classroom Specifications Key Skills Science knowledge , Computer Skills, Bengali , English , Hindi Required Experience and Qualifications Qualification- B.Sc/M.Sc or B.Ed. with good knowledge of Science.Good knowledge of MS Office and basic Computer Operation. Willing to travel for Training/Workshop.
