School Van Driver

Key Responsibilities:

• Safe Transportation:Driving the school van on assigned routes, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations, and ensuring the safe transport of students.
• Vehicle Maintenance:Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting any mechanical issues, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the vehicle.
• Student Safety:Assisting students in boarding and exiting the van, ensuring their safety during the ride, and managing student behavior on the van.
• Communication:Maintaining clear and professional communication with students, parents, and school staff.
• Record Keeping:Completing necessary forms and reports related to vehicle operation, student transportation, and any incidents.
• Emergency Procedures:Following established procedures for emergency situations, including administering first aid if needed and conducting emergency evacuation drills.
• Professional Conduct:Maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor with students, parents, and school personnel, and adhering to the school's policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications (may vary by location):

• Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated (e.g., a Class "C" license).
• Clean Driving Record: A clean driving record is essential to demonstrate safe driving practices.
• Background Check: A successful background check and fingerprinting are often required for positions involving student transportation.
• First Aid/CPR Certification: Certification in first aid and CPR may be required or preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience driving a school bus or van is often preferred.
• Physical Requirements: May include the ability to lift a certain weight, the ability to sit for extended periods, and the ability to bend, stoop, and reach.
