A Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services for an organization. They ensure that procurement activities are cost-effective, timely, and aligned with company policies and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet business objectives
Source and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery speed
Negotiate contracts and maintain strong vendor relationships
Monitor inventory levels and forecast future supply needs
Ensure compliance with procurement policies and legal regulations
Maintain accurate records of purchases and pricing
Collaborate with internal departments to understand procurement requirements
Analyze market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities
Required Skills
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Analytical thinking and attention to detail
Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems
Knowledge of supply chain management and contract law
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field
Professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) are a plus
2–5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing roles
