SAP S/4HANA Functional Consultant - Migration Support

About this role

Several of our Clients are migrating from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA and are building an internal project team to work alongside a global implementation partner. The consultant will be embedded in the client team to support an ongoing migration from SAP ECC to SAP S/4 HANA alongside a primary implementation partner. The role involves owning one of specific functional streams (e.g. FICO, MM, SD, PP, etc.), coordinating with the implementation partner, validating solutions and data, and supporting business users through design, testing and cutover. The position is hands on and requires strong understanding of S/4 HANA capabilities, migration approaches and best practices for global enterprises.

Work arrangement and availability

• Contract (3 to 6months), initially for the migration program with potential extensions.
• Candidates must be based in India (or similar time zone) and willing to provide 3-4 hours of daily overlap with US and/or Europe working hours (e.g. late afternoon / evening IST).

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Business, or related discipline.
• SAP certification in relevant S/4HANA or module (FICO / MM / SD / PP / other) preferred but not mandatory

Key responsibilities

• Act as clientside functional expert for one or more modules (e.g. FICO, SD, MM, PP, PM, QM, HR, SCM) during S/4 HANA migration.
• Work with business users to gather, refine and validate requirements, fitgap analysis and solution design proposed by the implementation partner.
• Review and validate configuration, functional specs and custom developments; provide timely feedback to the partner team.
• Support data migration activities: mapping, validation, reconciliations and signoff for master and transactional data.
• Prepare and execute functional and integration test scenarios; coordinate UAT with business stakeholders and track defects to closure.
• Contribute to cutover planning, golive readiness checks and post golive stabilization support.
• Create / review functional documentation, SOPs and training materials; support keyuser and enduser training sessions.
• Proactively identify risks and issues related to process, data or solution design and escalate with clear recommendations.
• Coordinate with global teams and be available for overlapping hours with US and Europe time zones for workshops, issue resolution and status calls.

Preferred candidate profile

• 8-12 years of handson SAP experience with at least one fullcycle implementation; minimum one S/4HANA implementation or migration highly preferred.
• Deep functional expertise in at least one SAP module (FICO, SD, MM, PP, PM, QM, etc.), with strong understanding of related integrations.
• Solid experience in blueprinting, configuration, testing, cutover and hypercare support.
• Good understanding of S/4HANA simplifications, data structures and migration/cutover concepts (e.g. Migration Cockpit, data loads, mock runs).
• Exposure to S/4HANA concepts such as Fiori apps, CDS views and simplification items will be an advantage.
• Strong business process knowledge in relevant domain (manufacturing, distribution, services, etc.) and ability to challenge/validate partner design.

• Excellent communication skills (experience working with native English speakers -US/Europe)

Nicetohave

• Experience in data migration tools and methodologies (LTMC, Migration Cockpit, LSMW, ETL tools) for S/4HANA.
• SAP certification in the relevant module or S/4HANA.
• Prior experience in clientside / advisory role alongside a large implementation partner.
