Role Overview

SAP MM (Materials Management) Consultant

Key Responsibilities

1. SAP MM Configuration & Implementation

• Lead and execute 

  end-to-end implementation

   activities including requirements gathering, AS-IS/TO-BE process mapping, configuration, testing, training, and go-live support.
• Configure key MM components:
  

• Procurement (P2P)

  : PR, PO, RFQ, Contracts, Scheduling Agreements

• Inventory Management (IM)

  : Goods Receipt, Goods Issue, Reservations

• Material Master, Vendor Master, Source Lists, Info Records

• Valuation & Account Determination (OBYC)

• Pricing Procedures in MM

• Invoice Verification (IV)

• Batch Management & Serial Numbers

• Perform 

  SAP MM customizing

   in SPRO, including purchasing, inventory, and logistics settings.

2. Business Requirements & Documentation

• Interact with business stakeholders to understand functional requirements and convert them into detailed 

  Functional Specifications (FS)

  .
• Prepare project deliverables:
  

• BBP (Business Blueprint Document)

• Configuration documents

• Test scripts (UT, SIT, UAT)

• User Manuals & Training Materials

3. Cross-Functional Integration

• Work closely with other SAP modules:
  

• SAP SD

   – third-party sales, STO, subcontracting

• SAP FI/CO

   – account postings, GR/IR clearing, automatic account determination

• SAP PP

   – BOM, production procurement, stock postings

• SAP WM/EWM

   – storage location, warehouse movement
• Handle IDoc and interface-related issues with MM processes.

4. Issue Resolution & Support

• Provide 

  L2/L3 production support

  : analyze incidents, identify root cause, and implement fixes.
• Manage 

  change requests

  , enhancements, and minor/major release upgrades.
• Conduct impact analysis before transporting changes to higher environments.

Required Skills

Functional Expertise

• Strong knowledge in 

  Procure-to-Pay (P2P)

   process.
• Expertise in:
  
• Material Master configuration
• Vendor Master configuration
• Purchase Requisition/Order configuration
• Release Strategy
• Material Valuation, Automatic Account Determination
• Inventory Management and Physical Inventory
• Service Procurement, Subcontracting, Consignment & Stock Transport Orders
• Taxation settings (GST, VAT as applicable)

Technical Skills

• Preparation of 

  Functional Specifications for RICEFW objects

  .
• Basic debugging knowledge in SAP ABAP (optional but preferred).
• Experience in 

  IDocs, ALE, EDI

  .
• Familiarity with 

  SAP S/4HANA MM

   concepts (Fiori apps, Business Partners, MRP, Simplification).

Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Business/Commerce or related discipline.

• 5–9 years of experience

   in SAP MM.
• At least 

  2–3 full lifecycle implementation projects
