Job Description

Job Title: Safety Officer

Qualification:

Diploma / Any Degree

Diploma in Fire & Safety or Industrial Safety (preferred)

Skills Required:

Strong communication skills, knowledge of safety laws and regulations, ability to conduct safety audits, technical skills, training and awareness capability, problem-solving ability, leadership skill

Job Responsibilities

Daily Safety Monitoring

  • Perform daily safety inspections across the site to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Monitor workers’ activities to ensure they follow safety rules, PPE usage, and safe operating procedures.

Safety Training & Awareness

  • Conduct regular safety training programs, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions for employees.
  • Educate workers on safe equipment handling, emergency procedures, and hazard prevention.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, incidents, near-miss reports, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports to management.

Risk Assesment

  • Identify workplace hazards and perform risk assessments to evaluate severity and likelihood.
  • Recommend mitigation measures and ensure implementation of control strategies.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for fire, accidents, and other critical situations.
  • Conduct mock drills and ensure all staff understand evacuation routes and emergency procedures.

Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure safety compliance at all work stages.
  • Address safety-related complaints and ensure quick resolution of issues.
  • Communicate safety guidelines clearly to the workforce and maintain strong teamwork across departments.

Incident Management

  • Respond to incidents, accidents, or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations, identify root causes, and propose corrective actions.

Housekeeping & Site Discipline

  • Ensure proper housekeeping, waste management, and maintenance of a clean and safe work environment.
  • Maintain discipline on-site by enforcing safety rules, site access control, and PPE compliance.

Permit to Work System

  • Implement and monitor the Permit to Work (PTW) system for high-risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry, electrical work, and lifting operations.
  • Verify that all permits are approved, valid, and followed as per safety standards.
