Restriking Process Engineer

Role & responsibilities

Process Development & Control

• Design and validate restriking processes for stamped or brazed aluminum components.
• Define flatness and dimensional correction strategies to meet customer requirements
• (e.g., 0.8 mm flatness).
• Establish process parameters (press force, dwell, stroke, tooling compliance).
• Ensure processes do not compromise brazed joint integrity or coolant channel geometry.
• Basic understanding of strip layout development.
• Good understanding of material selection for press tools and machining processes
• Maintain and improve MTTR & MTBF

Tooling & Equipment

• Work with tooling suppliers to design restrike dies/fixtures
• Manage tool setting, tooling trials, prove-outs, and preventive maintenance.
• Collaborate with maintenance to troubleshoot hydraulic presses and restrike fixtures.
• Maintain die history records, repair logs, and spare management.

Quality & Validation

• Support PPAP, customer validation, Revalidation requirements.

Continuous Improvement

• Analyze rejection and rework data, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Drive projects on process capability (Cp/Cpk), cycle time reduction, and yield improvement.
• Work with cross-functional teams (Brazing, Coating, QA)

Documentation & Standards

• Prepare SOPs, work instructions, and process control plans for restriking.
• Maintain process FMEA and risk assessments.
• Train operators and technicians on restrike best practices.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma in Tool & Die Making (NTTF, GTTC, CTTC, IGTR, IDTR etc.)
• 3 to 7 years of experience in sheet metal forming, restriking, or precision press operations.
• Strong knowledge of aluminum alloys, brazing processes, and forming mechanics.
• Hands-on experience with hydraulic/mechanical presses, die design, and fixturing.
• Familiarity with GD&T, APQP, PFMEA, and control plan development.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD
