Research Trainee

As a Research Trainee in the Department of Computer Science at the University of York, you will be part of a prestigious institution known for its excellence in teaching and research. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct research under the supervision of senior colleagues and contribute to the production of research - Provide support to the research project by undertaking research work within the overall program and assisting with day-to-day operations - Assist in identifying and developing potential areas of research and proposals for independent or collaborative research projects Qualifications Required: - First degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience - Knowledge of robot control, motion/path planning, computer vision, image processing and analysis, and machine learning - Familiarity with a range of research techniques and methodologies This is a multi-disciplinary project that focuses on developing a data quality analysis and robot control system to monitor the growth and health of aquaculture species. The project aims to enhance the data quality of video images captured from the underwater environment using deep learning and computer vision techniques. Additionally, it involves designing a control algorithm to maneuver the drone for effective data collection.
