Research Scientist

As a Junior Research Scientist in Formulation at our Innovation & Development department in Mumbai (Andheri MIDC), your main responsibility will be to deliver formulations within the defined timeframe to meet the product delivery goals for Innovation & Development. You will be involved in developing different formulations, whether as generic or differentiated generics, and ensuring successful stability and scale-up at the manufacturing site. Your core job responsibilities will include developing formulations using scientific rationale in the selection of excipients to create a reproducible prototype formulation. It is crucial to ensure proper documentation of every trial in the logbooks and use this information to create the Product Development Report for dossier filing. You will also be required to use Quality by Design (QbD) where necessary for product and process optimization, as well as maintain and calibrate equipment properly. Additionally, you must ensure that the scale-up of the developed formulation works at the engineering batch level. Key deliverables for this role will involve conducting literature/patent searches to create drug profiles, developing prototypes with rationale use of excipients, performing preformulation studies as required, conducting accelerated stability studies, proof of concept studies, scale-up studies at 1/10th scale, and technology transfer and manufacturing of Bio/Clinical batches. To be successful in this role, you must have a background in Formulation and Product Development, including the ability to schedule and follow all steps to deliver the drug as per QTPP, select suitable polymers/excipients based on properties or scientific rationale, evaluate CQA of drug/excipients, and design reproducible and scalable processes with higher yield, cost-effectiveness, and environmental friendliness. You should also be adept at designing experiments to optimize product and process, preparing Pharmaceutical Development Reports as per Common Technical Document (CTD) module 3 requirements, and complying with regulatory requirements defined in QTPP. Strong project management skills will be essential to plan and prioritize multiple project deadlines effectively to meet product delivery goals. The ideal candidate for this position should have an M. Pharm/Ph.D. degree with 5 to 7 years of experience in the field.
