Research Associate

Job Profile

• Design and conduct laboratory and field experiments to study insect life cycles, population dynamics, and response to various stimuli (e.g., insecticides, biological agents like Verticillium).
• Analyze and interpret data collected from assays and field trials.

Pest Management:
o Develop, test, and implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies to control harmful insects (e.g., white grub, Spodoptera species) in agricultural environments. o Identify and classify insect species, including beneficial, neutral, and pest organisms. Laboratory and Facility Management: o Maintain and manage live insect cultures and colonies for ongoing research and testing (like the lab culture of Spodoptera sp.). o Operate and maintain specialized environmental facilities, such as insectaries, growth chambers, and functional environmental chambers. o Ensure all work complies with relevant safety and regulatory standards, including drafting approval formats for proposed work. Reporting and Communication: o Document all procedures, observations, and results meticulously. o Compile detailed scientific reports, technical papers, and regulatory submissions

Experience

2 - 3 Years

Qualification

Master-s degree in any area of Agriculture entomology with good academic record
2) 1-2-year experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations Candidate who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests such as CSIR UGC NET or GATE (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions- will be preferred

Skills

1. Technical Skills: Expertise in insect handling- rearing- taxonomy- molecular techniques- microscopy- and statistical data analysis.
2. Facility Management: Experience managing and maintaining controlled environments for biological studies (insectary- environmental chambers). 3. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and collaborative work. 4. Should be able to work independently and in team to make sure project is on track 5. Exposure to farmer field condition is desirable
