This job is based in Australia. The position is a Full-Time role with 35 hours per week for a duration of 6 months. The remuneration for this position is Academic Level A $91K- $121 K (based on experience) plus 17% Super and Annual Leave Loading. The job location is at Kensington, Sydney, New South Wales. Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and candidates must have unrestricted work rights to be considered. The Kirby Institute, located at UNSW Sydney, is a world-leading health research institute dedicated to eliminating infectious diseases globally. They specialize in developing health solutions for at-risk communities by involving communities in their research to create successful tests, treatments, cures, and prevention strategies. As a Research Associate (Level A) in the Mathematical Epidemiology and Evaluation Research Group, you will be responsible for supporting research efforts at UNSW by evaluating HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) strategies using a mathematical modeling framework. In this role, you will estimate the population-level impact of oral and long-acting PrEP interventions by collaborating with health departments, community organizations, and other stakeholders. You will report to the Associate Professor and will not have any direct reports. The ideal candidate should have a PhD or Masters in computational modeling of infectious diseases or a related discipline, or relevant work experience. Experience in scientific software development and proficiency in the Python programming language will be advantageous. Strong attention to detail, the ability to work with infectious disease models, and a commitment to staying updated with discipline knowledge are essential. Moreover, experience in software development, version control systems, and a proven track record of academic research and publications are highly desirable. Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, and effective communication with diverse stakeholders are crucial for this role.
