Research Assistant | Chemical Lab | Critical Minerals

Location: Noida

Key Responsibilities:

• Experimentation: Assist in designing and conducting experiments aimed at developing efficient methods for recycling lithium-ion batteries and recovering rare earth elements (REEs) from various sources.
• Mineral Analysis: Conduct thorough chemical analyses using various techniques:
• Perform ICP-OES for the quantification of elements in samples.
• Use Ion Chromatography (IC) to analyze specific ions in solution.
• Conduct Powder X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) to determine the crystalline structure of materials.
• Execute particle size analysis to assess material properties and optimize extraction processes.
• Data Analysis: Collect, interpret, and analyze experimental data. Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing results, methodologies, and suggested improvements for recycling and extraction processes.
• Laboratory Management: Maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, particularly related to the handling of hazardous materials involved in mineral processing.
• Documentation: Keep detailed and accurate records of experiments, methodologies, and results. Assist in preparing research papers, grant proposals, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaboration: Work closely with senior researchers, graduate students, and industry partners on projects related to critical minerals. Participate in team meetings to discuss research progress and collaborative initiatives.
• Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to undergraduate students or interns engaged in related research projects.

Qualifications:

• Education: B. tech/Masters degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. A Masters degree with a focus on mineral processing or recycling technology is a plus.

Experience: Previous experience in a laboratory setting or research environment, particularly in analytical chemistry and tasks associated with chemical recycling or mineral recovery

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in the context of mineral extraction and recycling.
• Proficient in laboratory practices, safety protocols, and the operation of equipment used for ICP-OES, IC, Powder XRD, and particle size analysis.
• Familiarity with data analysis software (e.g., Excel, ORGIN) and techniques specific to energy materials and mineral analysis.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
