Job Description

In this role as an R&D Manager Sustenance Engineering (C++) at BMC, you will have the opportunity to build and lead a talented team of engineers, focusing on product maintenance and patch development. Your responsibilities will include: - Building and leading a team of approximately 6 engineers to maintain and develop patches for mission-critical software. - Developing and implementing diagnostic tools and processes to enhance product performance. - Collaborating with product teams to define requirements and prioritize development tasks. - Managing patch development cycles to ensure timely delivery and quality assurance. - Overseeing hiring processes, delegating tasks, prioritizing workloads, and providing guidance for team success and individual growth. - Fostering a sense of urgency within the team to meet project deadlines. - Encouraging continuous learning and development among team members. - Participating in on-call rotations for critical production escalations, ensuring rapid issue resolution and minimal service disruption. Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. - 7+ years of overall software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a people management role. - 3+ years of experience in C++ coding. - Proficiency with Linux OS. - Strong problem-solving skills and a sense of urgency. - Ability to build and lead effective teams, promoting collaboration and growth. - Self-motivation with a desire to learn and adapt. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Nice to have qualifications for this role include experience with Java, building teams from scratch, and working in an enterprise product-based company.
