Position Summary

The Radiologist will be responsible for performing and interpreting a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures to support accurate clinical diagnosis and treatment planning. The role requires strong clinical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with clinicians and technicians to ensure high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

1. Diagnostic Imaging & Reporting

  • Conduct and interpret diagnostic imaging procedures including X-rays, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, and Mammography (as applicable).
  • Provide accurate, detailed, and timely radiology reports to referring physicians.
  • Recommend additional imaging tests when clinically appropriate.

2. Clinical Collaboration

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support clinical decision-making.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions, and departmental rounds.

3. Patient Care & Safety

  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during imaging procedures.
  • Explain procedures to patients and address concerns when required.
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols and regulatory standards.

4. Equipment Management

  • Oversee proper functioning of radiology equipment and coordinate with biomedical/engineering teams for maintenance.
  • Ensure appropriate utilization of radiology technology and tools.

5. Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Maintain updated knowledge of radiology best practices, protocols, and emerging technologies.
  • Comply with hospital policies, statutory requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits within the radiology department.

6. Emergency & On-call Duties

  • Provide radiology support for emergency and critical care cases as per duty roster.
  • Handle urgent reporting and assist clinical teams during emergencies.

Skills & Competencies

  • In-depth clinical knowledge of diagnostic radiology.
  • Strong analytical and interpretation skills.
  • Excellent communication and report writing abilities.
  • Familiarity with PACS/RIS and digital radiology systems.
  • Commitment to patient safety and service excellence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in subspecialty areas such as neuroradiology, musculoskeletal imaging, or interventional radiology (if required).
  • Ability to train junior doctors and radiology technicians.
  • Strong ethical and professional conduct.
