Job Description

1. Regulatory Compliance (As per AERB & NABH):

  • Ensure the hospital's radiation practices comply with AERB safety codes and NABH accreditation standards.
  • Liaise with AERB for license applications, renewals, and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain updated records of regulatory approvals for radiological equipment (X-ray, CT, Cath Lab, Linear Accelerators, etc.).

2. Radiation Safety Management:

  • Monitor and control occupational and public exposure to radiation.
  • Implement ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
  • Ensure that proper shielding, signage, and access control are in place in radiation areas.

3. Radiation Monitoring:

  • Oversee the personal dosimetry program (TLD badge distribution, collection, and record maintenance).
  • Investigate cases of high radiation exposure and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain and review area monitoring records.

4. Equipment Safety:

  • Ensure periodic Quality Assurance (QA) testing of radiation equipment as per AERB/NABH norms.
  • Verify calibration and maintenance records of radiation-generating equipment.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and breakdown handling with the Biomedical Engineering Department.

5. Training and Awareness:

  • Conduct regular training for radiation workers on radiation safety, emergency protocols, and equipment handling.
  • Participate in hospital-wide safety committee meetings and mock drills.
  • Promote a culture of safety among staff and ensure awareness of radiation hazards.

6. Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Maintain detailed records of:
  • Radiation exposure reports
  • Equipment QA records
  • Regulatory correspondence
  • Radiation safety audits and corrective actions

7. Emergency Preparedness:

  • Prepare and update the Radiation Emergency Response Plan.
  • Lead radiation incident drills and ensure readiness for potential radiation emergencies.

Qualification :

  • M.Sc. in Nuclear Medicine / Bsc in Radiological Physics from AERB-recognized institution.
  • Certified and approved as RSO (Level II or Level III) by AERB.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a hospital radiology/radiotherapy setting preferred

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
