Quality Engineer - Machine Shop

1. Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform in-process, first piece, and final inspections of machined components from CNC Lathe, Milling, Tool Room, and Laser Cutting operations.
• Interpret technical drawings and GD&T symbols for dimensional and geometric verification.
• Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) for precision measurements.
• Use a wide range of laboratory inspection instruments such as: Profile Projector , Surface Roughness, Tester Height Gauges, Bore Gauges, Micrometers, and other precision tools.
• Maintain and calibrate measuring and test equipment in accordance with ISO standards.
• Document and maintain inspection reports, control plans, NCRs, and quality records.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for deviations and initiate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
• Participate in internal audits, customer audits, and supplier quality assessments. Support implementation and compliance of ISO 13485 quality systems.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams for continuous improvement and defect reduction.

2. Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• Strong understanding of CNC and tool room machining processes
• Proficient in CMM operation and programming (manual or DCC-based systems)
• Expertise in using precision measuring instruments and lab inspection tools
• Thorough knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation
• Familiar with quality tools like 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, Pareto Analysis, and CAPA
• Experience with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 / ISO 13485 implementation
• Good documentation, data analysis, and reporting skills
• Basic exposure to Lean and 5S practices on the shop floor

3. Qualifications / Experience: Education

• Diploma or bachelors degree in mechanical / production / industrial engineering .
• Minimum 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in a quality role within a machine shop or component manufacturing setup.
• Experience with CMM and lab inspection equipment is mandatory
