Job Description

Role Overview: At American Express, you will be part of the Global Loyalty and Benefits organization within the Engineering Department. As a Quality Engineer III, you will play a key role in the company's transformation journey by decommissioning legacy applications and transitioning to a modern platform based on event-driven architecture and cutting-edge technologies. You will have the opportunity to work closely with product owners and technology counterparts globally to support initiatives aimed at business growth, cost savings, and platform modernization. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring a seamless customer experience for the millions of American Express cardholders worldwide. Key Responsibilities: - Understand the Loyalty and Benefits domain and its impact on the AMEX customer experience - Support legacy applications and modern platforms to gain in-depth knowledge of functional workflows - Collaborate with product owners and technology counterparts to drive initiatives targeting business growth and platform modernization - Participate in agile development processes including sprint planning, stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives - Develop test automation frameworks, perform low-level design, coding, code reviews, and unit and E2E testing - Identify test data needs and innovate to reduce data setup effort - Deploy components in the test environment, conduct test executions (automated and manual), and manage project delivery across global teams - Promote engineering excellence within the team and drive adoption of CICD and DevOps practices - Take ownership of initiatives and potentially lead a small team of quality engineers Qualification Required: - Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related field with a minimum of 8 years of experience in software quality assurance - Experience of 5-8 years in delivering complex projects involving domain knowledge, technical implementation, and stakeholder management - Ability to work independently with product and business teams to gather requirements, write test cases, and determine test data needs - Proficiency in developing test automation frameworks using Go, Godog, cucumber, or other BDD frameworks - Familiarity with container-based technologies (docker, Kubernetes), GIT, Jenkins, TDD/BDD, mocking frameworks, and CICD practices - Experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture (REST), and messaging services like Kafka - Skilled in working with relational/NoSQL databases and writing clean, maintainable code with good documentation practices - Exposure to Chaos engineering and nonfunctional requirements testing Additional Details: American Express offers a supportive work environment that prioritizes your holistic well-being, providing competitive base salaries, bonus incentives, and comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability benefits.
