Quality Control Head - CNC Shop

Job Purpose:

To lead the Quality Control (QC) function for the CNC Machine shop, ensuring that all finished products comply with technical specifications, quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable codes. The role focuses on inspection, testing, documentation, team leadership, and driving zero-defect manufacturing through robust control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Control Management

• Lead end-to-end quality control activities for CNC Machine shop.
• Define and implement inspection plans, and quality checkpoints across machining and finishing operations.
• Review and approve product conformance based on final inspection before dispatch.

2. Inspection & Testing Oversight

• Ensure effective execution of incoming, in-process, and final inspection procedures.
• Manage dimensional checks, surface finish inspections, and visual quality validation.
• Supervise mechanical testing, Positive Material Identification (PMI), PDI, and TPI.

3. Quality Documentation & Traceability

• Ensure accurate documentation for Heat Numbers, Inspection Reports, and Test Certificates (MTCs).
• Maintain proper traceability records from raw material to finished flange.
• Review and release QC documents as per customer specifications and compliance norms (ASME, ASTM, DIN,).

4. Rejection Control & Root Cause Analysis

• Investigate quality issues, rejections, or deviations on the shop floor.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
• Maintain rejection analysis reports and drive initiatives to reduce internal and external rejections.

5. Team Leadership & Training

• Lead a team of QC Engineers, Inspectors, and Assistants for daily quality control activities.
• Train QC personnel in quality standards, inspection techniques, safety practices and standing operating procedure (SOP).

6. Coordination & Compliance

• Coordinate with Production, Design, and Dispatch teams to ensure quality consistency.
• Liaise with third-party inspection agencies (TUV) and customer representatives.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other applicable quality regulations.

7. Tools, Gauges & Calibration

• Ensure calibration of all measuring instruments, gauges, and equipment.
• Manage inventory and records of inspection tools and maintain control standards.

Qualification & Experience:

• Education:

  B.E. / B.Tech Mechanical / Metallurgy / Production OR ADFT (NIFFT)

• Experience:

  15+ years in Quality Control in a CNC Machine shop

• Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing quality of CNC Machine shop
