Purchasing & Store Manager (Construction)

Key Responsibilities:

Purchasing & Procurement

• Source and develop vendors for construction materials such as cement, steel, aggregates, electrical, plumbing, MEP, finishing materials,tools, and equipment
• Obtain quotations, prepare comparative statements, and negotiate prices and commercial terms
• Issue Purchase Orders as per approved budgets and authority limits
• Follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery to project sites

Store & Inventory Management

• Receive, inspect, and verify materials against Purchase Orders and Delivery Challans
• Ensure proper stacking, storage, labeling, and safety of materials
• Maintain stock registers, bin cards, GRNs, and inward/outward records
• Issue materials only against approved Material Requisition Slips (MRS)
• Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels and plan reorders

Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and accounts teams
• Track material consumption and report shortages, excess, or abnormal usage
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly purchase and stock reports

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with company policies, audit requirements, and safety standards
• Prevent material loss, damage, wastage, and pilferage

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma / Bachelor's' degree in Commerce, Engineering, or related field
• 26 years of experience in construction purchasing and store management
• Site-based experience is mandatory

Required Skills:

• Strong knowledge of construction materials and procurement processes
• Negotiation and vendor management skills
• Inventory control and documentation accuracy
• MS Excel / ERP knowledge
• Ability to manage multiple site requirements

• Timely availability of materials at site
• Cost savings achieved through procurement
• Inventory accuracy and audit compliance
• Reduction in material loss and wastage
