Job Summary:

The Purchase Engineer – Solar Power Projects is responsible for procuring solar PV components, balance of system (BOS) materials, and services required for solar power plant construction and operations. The role involves vendor management, cost negotiation, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality materials in line with project specifications and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Source and procure solar PV modules, inverters, mounting structures, cables, transformers, SCADA systems, and other BOS materials.
• Analyze technical specifications from the engineering team and convert them into purchase requirements.
• Evaluate and onboard qualified vendors and suppliers, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery performance.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and warranty conditions with vendors.
• Prepare and issue RFQs (Request for Quotation), compare quotations technically and commercially, and issue Purchase Orders (POs).
• Track and monitor material delivery timelines to ensure alignment with project execution schedules.
• Collaborate with logistics teams for transport, customs clearance (if imported), and warehouse management.
• Maintain vendor performance metrics and ensure continuous improvement in procurement activities.
• Ensure procurement compliance with relevant standards (MNRE, IEC, ISO) and project-specific requirements.
• Coordinate with internal teams such as design, planning, quality, and site execution for smooth material flow.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or BE in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electronics Engineering.
• 2–4 years of procurement experience, with at least 1–2 years in solar power or renewable energy projects.
• Strong understanding of solar PV components, balance of system materials, and EPC project workflows.
• Experience in working with ERP or Tally procurement modules.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

• Primarily office-based with occasional travel to vendor sites, manufacturing units, or project locations.
• Coordination with multi-disciplinary teams including engineering, logistics, quality control, and project management.
