Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  1. Material & Service Procurement

    • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service.
    • Review and understand project BOQs, drawings, and technical specifications to determine material requirements
    • Issue RFQs (Request for Quotation) and RFPs (Request for Proposal) to vendors and subcontractors.
    • Negotiate terms, prices, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  2. Vendor Management

    • Develop and maintain relationships with reliable vendors for construction materials (cement, steel, aggregates, concrete, formwork, waterproofing, finishing materials, etc.).
    • Conduct vendor audits and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  3. Cost & Budget Control

    • Prepare cost comparison statements and recommend cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
    • Track procurement budgets and monitor spend against approved estimates.
  4. Logistics & Delivery Coordination

    • Coordinate with site engineers, storekeepers, and logistics teams for timely delivery of materials.
    • Resolve delivery, quality, or invoicing issues with suppliers.
  5. Documentation & Compliance

    • Maintain purchase orders, contracts, and supplier records in ERP or procurement systems.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, and safety standards.
  • Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering materials and construction processes.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Ability to manage multiple procurement packages simultaneously.
  • Understanding of contract management and vendor compliance.

Qualifications

  • Mandatory:

    • B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering

      (preferred) or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
  • Preferred Add-ons:

    • PG Diploma in Materials Management (PGDMM)

      OR

      MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain / Operations Management

      .
    • Relevant certifications (CIPS, CSCP, etc.) will be an advantage.
  • 25 years

    (for mid-level) or

    5+ years

    (for senior level) experience in procurement within the civil/construction industry.
  • Experience in high-rise residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects is an added advantage.
