Job Description

The School Psychologist will provide mental health assessment, counseling, and life skills interventions to school-going children through clinic-based services within schools. The role requires a strong commitment to working in resource-limited school settings and addressing grassroots mental health challenges among children and adolescents. The Psychologist will support students emotional, behavioral, and learning needs while ensuring safe, ethical, and confidential service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment and Clinical Services

  • Conduct psychological assessments and screening for students across designated classes.
  • Administer, score, and interpret psychological tests and prepare detailed assessment reports.
  • Ensure safe, ethical, and appropriate delivery of clinical services within the school setting.

Counseling and Therapeutic Interventions

  • Conduct individual counseling sessions for students facing emotional, behavioral, or learning difficulties.
  • Facilitate group life skills sessions and mental health programs in schools.
  • Support students in overcoming learning disabilities, emotional distress, and social challenges.

Student Support and Crisis Management

  • Address classroom or school-level mental health crises when required.
  • Listen to students concerns related to academic, emotional, and social issues.
  • Provide support services to students at different developmental levels.

Teacher and Parent Engagement

  • Mentor and support teachers working with high-risk or vulnerable children.
  • Counsel teachers, parents, and caregivers on student mental health and behavioral concerns.
  • Guide parents in facilitating children's emotional and psychological development.

Program Development and Research

  • Develop and implement programs to address behavioral issues and learning difficulties.
  • Research and recommend new methods to enhance children's mental well-being.

Monitoring, Documentation, and Reporting

  • Update student case data and session details on the project mobile application.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of student records and case details.
  • Prepare monthly reports, progress presentations, case studies, success stories, and SOP documentation.
  • Conduct home visits as instructed by the Project Manager.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and reviews as required.
  • Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by THF management from time to time.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Psychology / Applied Psychology / Counselling Psychology / Clinical Psychology / Health Psychology with relevant experience in child and adolescent mental health, or
  • M.Phil / PhD in Psychology with a Master's degree in the relevant specialization

Experience and Other Requirements:

  • 23 years of experience in clinical or field-based mental health services.
  • Valid state license to practice as a psychologist (Mandatory).
  • Prior experience in social development or community-based projects preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in school environments with limited resources.
