Job Description

The role of a Psychological Counsellor for School is vital in fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for students. This position contributes significantly to the overall well-being and mental health of the student body, ensuring that each individual has the opportunity to thrive academically and personally. As a key member of the educational team, the counsellor will collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrative staff to create innovative programs that promote emotional resilience and personal growth. Provide individual and group counselling sessions to address students' emotional and psychological needs. Develop and implement mental health programs that promote awareness and understanding among students and staff. Collaborate with teachers to identify students who may require additional support and create tailored intervention plans. Conduct assessments to evaluate students' mental health and provide appropriate recommendations. Facilitate workshops and seminars on topics such as stress management, conflict resolution, and self-esteem building. Maintain accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions and student progress. Act as a liaison between students, parents, and external mental health resources to ensure comprehensive support. Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in school psychology and counselling. Participate in school meetings and committees to advocate for student mental health initiatives. Provide crisis intervention and support during emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. Qualifications And Skills Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a related field. Valid licensure or certification as a school psychologist or counselor. Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and mental health issues. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and staff. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Experience in developing and implementing mental health programs in educational settings. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in record-keeping and reporting. Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends. Knowledge of relevant laws and ethical guidelines related to school counselling.
