Job Description

Create a joyful, safe, and high-expectation classroom where every child develops strong Foundational Literacy & Numeracy (FLN), social-emotional skills, and curiosity—using active, activity-based teaching aligned with CBSE and NEP 2020.

Key Responsibilities1) Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver daily lessons for English/Hindi, EVS, Mathematics (and allotted subjects) using age-appropriate, experiential pedagogy.
  • Design unit plans, weekly lesson plans, and learning materials that meet CBSE learning outcomes and school curriculum maps.
  • Integrate art, physical education, and values across subjects (“art-integrated” & “sports-integrated” learning).

2) Active Teaching (What “active” looks like in our classrooms)

  • 5E model: Engage → Explore → Explain → Elaborate → Evaluate in most lessons.
  • Hands-on activities: Math manipulatives, word cards, science experiments, learning stations, role play, and games.
  • Think–Pair–Share & group work: Frequent peer discussion, cooperative tasks, and presentations.
  • Differentiation: Tiered tasks, choice boards, and flexible grouping to support struggling and advanced learners.
  • Formative checks every 7–10 minutes: Exit tickets, mini whiteboards, quick polls, thumbs up/down.
  • Multisensory literacy: Read-alouds, phonics routines, guided reading, shared & independent writing.
  • Use of visuals & anchor charts: Word walls, number lines, and concept maps created with students.
  • Technology integration: Smartboard/ICT for short clips, interactive practice, and reinforcement (not passive watching).
  • Real-life connection: Local context, field walks, class corners (nature/math/reading), and simple projects.
  • Student voice: Set class goals with children; regular reflection journals.

Sample 40-minute lesson flow (reference):

  • 0–5 min: Engage (hook / question / picture prompt)
  • 5–15 min: Explore (manipulatives / pair task / station)
  • 15–25 min: Explain (student explanation first, then teacher clarifies)
  • 25–35 min: Elaborate (apply in new context / challenge problem)
  • 35–40 min: Evaluate (exit ticket + quick feedback)

3) Assessment & Feedback

  • Maintain continuous assessments (rubrics, portfolios, notebooks) and periodic assessments as per school calendar.
  • Give timely, specific feedback; share progress with students and parents.
  • Track FLN benchmarks; plan re-teaching / enrichment from data.

4) Classroom Culture, Safety & Inclusion

  • Establish clear routines and age-appropriate behavior expectations.
  • Ensure child protection and safety protocols; maintain vigilant supervision at all times (classroom, corridors, dispersal, bus duty if assigned).
  • Foster inclusive practices for diverse learners; coordinate with Special Educator when needed.

5) Parent & Community Engagement

  • Conduct PTMs, share learning goals and home-support strategies.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally via school channels.

6) Co-curricular & School Life

  • Lead/assist assemblies, clubs, celebrations, competitions, and educational trips.
  • Support school events, examinations, and substitution duties as required.

Qualifications (as per CBSE norms)

  • Essential: Senior Secondary (10+2) with D.El.Ed./ETE/JBT or B.El.Ed.
  • Preferred: CTET Paper I qualified; Graduate in relevant stream; B.Ed. (as per latest CBSE guidelines).
  • Proficiency in English and Hindi (spoken & written).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong command of primary pedagogy and child psychology.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Lesson planning with clear objectives and measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and use data for remediation.
  • Comfort with basic EdTech (smartboard, Google Workspace/MS Office).
  • Growth mindset, teamwork, reliability, and ethics.

Tools & Resources You’ll Use

  • Smartboard/Projector, classroom library, manipulatives (counters, base-ten blocks), phonics materials, charts, and school-provided workbooks/pintables.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Student progress on FLN and class-level learning outcomes.
  • Quality of lesson plans and classroom observations (active pedagogy visible).
  • Student engagement and behavior metrics (on-task time, participation).
  • Assessment records, timely feedback, and parent communication.
  • Contribution to co-curriculars and professional development participation.

Work Schedule & Terms

  • On-campus full-time as per school timetable and calendar (including selected Saturdays/events/exams as scheduled).
