Job Purpose

To provide academic leadership in the field of Economics through high-quality teaching, impactful research, student mentorship, and contribution to the strategic and academic development of the university.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Academic Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses in Economics (e.g., Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, Development Economics, International Economics, Public Finance).
• Design and update course curricula, syllabi, and assessment methods.
• Evaluate student performance through exams, assignments, projects, and dissertations.
• Supervise undergraduate research projects, masters theses, and PhD dissertations.
• Mentor students and support their academic and career development.
  

Research & Scholarly Activities

• Conduct original and high-impact research in Economics.
• Publish research in reputable peer-reviewed national and international journals.
• Present research at academic conferences, seminars, and workshops.
• Secure external research funding and lead funded research projects.
• Promote interdisciplinary and policy-relevant research.
  

Leadership & Academic Service

• Provide academic and research leadership within the department.
• Guide and mentor junior faculty members and research scholars.
• Lead curriculum development, academic programs, or research centers.
• Serve on departmental, faculty, and university committees.
• Support accreditation, ranking, and quality assurance processes.
  

Community & Professional Engagement

• Engage with industry, government, and policy institutions when relevant.
• Contribute to outreach programs, executive education, or public lectures.
• Participate in professional economic associations and academic networks.
  

Qualifications

Essential

• PhD in Economics or a closely related discipline from a recognized university.
• Strong academic record with a demonstrated commitment to teaching and research.
• Proven record of scholarly publications.
  

Experience Requirements

• Minimum

  10 years

  of teaching and/or research experience at a university or research institution.
• Significant number of publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience supervising doctoral students.
