Job Description

Job Title: Production/Purchase Manager (MALE CANDIDATES ONLY) Location: Ambattur, Chennai Industry: Manufacturing Department: Production / Operations Reporting to: General Manager Qualification & Experience: B.E. in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory) 810 years of proven experience in the manufacturing industry , preferably in a mid-to-large scale setup Key Responsibilities: A. Production Department Responsibilities Production Planning & Execution Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules in coordination with the planning team. Oversee production activities to ensure output meets quality and quantity targets. Monitor production efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure optimal utilization of manpower and machinery. Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental regulations. Coordination & Supervision Collaborate with Assembly, Quality Control, and Maintenance teams for smooth operations. Implement lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives. Supervise production team members, provide guidance, and conduct periodic performance reviews. Dispatch Coordination Ensure on-time completion of finished goods for timely dispatch. Work closely with logistics and dispatch teams to meet customer delivery schedules. Track inventory of finished goods and maintain dispatch documentation. B. Purchase Department Coordination Material Planning & Requisition Provide the Purchase team with accurate material requirement forecasts based on the production schedule. Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, components, and consumables to avoid stockouts or overstocking. Vendor Coordination Follow up with the Purchase team to expedite procurement of critical items. Assist in evaluating supplier performance in terms of quality, lead time, and pricing. Raise alerts for urgent material requirements and coordinate with vendors through the Purchase team where necessary. Cost Optimization Work with Purchase to identify alternate suppliers, negotiate pricing, and reduce procurement costs. Ensure effective consumption and minimal wastage of materials. Cross-functional Liaison: Assembly Team: Ensure readiness of sub-assemblies for main line production. QC Team: Address quality concerns immediately and implement corrective actions. Accounts Department: Coordinate for timely invoicing, material inward/outward entries, and vendor payments. Skills Required: Strong knowledge of production planning, shop floor management, and procurement coordination Familiarity with ERP systems (production and purchase modules) Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and leadership skills Sound understanding of cost control, vendor management, and dispatch processes Problem-solving abilities and quick decision-making under tight timelines Salary: as per industry standard Working Hours: 9 am- 6pm Joining: Immediate
