Product / Stem kit Designer

Stemfield Innovation Hub is building hands-on STEM & Innovation Labs for K-12 schools.

We are looking for a STEM Kit Designer who can design low-cost, high-impact DIY learning kits aligned with school curriculum and experiential learning outcomes.

This is a core product role, not a teaching-only position

Key Responsibilities

Product & Kit Design

• Design DIY STEM kits for Grades KG–12

• Convert concepts (science, electronics, mechanics) into child-safe learning kits

• Develop step-by-step activity flows and learning outcomes

• Ensure kits are modular, reusable, and scalable

Curriculum Alignment

• Align kits with CBSE / NEP / IB learning objectives

• Collaborate with curriculum & training teams

• Ensure age-appropriate complexity and pedagogy

Prototyping & Testing

• Create prototypes using low-cost materials

• Test kits with trainers/students

• Improve designs based on classroom feedback

Cost & Vendor Coordination

• Optimize BOM (Bill of Materials)

• Source components locally where possible

• Work with vendors for bulk production

Documentation

• Prepare kit manuals, worksheets, and trainer notes

• Maintain design files, revisions, and documentation

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education

• B.Tech / B.E. / Diploma in:

• Electronics

• Mechanical Engineering

• Mechatronics

• Robotics

• Product Design

• Applied Sciences

(Hands-on experience matters more than degrees)

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of:

• Basic electronics

• Sensors & actuators

• Mechanical assemblies

• Simple robotics concepts

• Experience with:

• Arduino / Micro:bit (preferred)

• Prototyping tools

• DIY / maker-space tools

Mindset (Very Important) • Problem-solver

• Child-centric design thinking

• Willing to build from scratch

• Open to feedback & iteration

• Respectful of IP & confidentiality

Experience

• 1–5 years in STEM education / product design / maker labs

• Freshers with strong portfolio are welcome
