Retail Technology Services (RBS) provides the underpinning technology for simple, convenient and affordable banking and general insurance products and services to personal and private bank customers, helping them manage their everyday banking needs, buy a home, protect their assets or invest for the future.

Impact & Contribution:

We are looking to hire a Senior Product Owner to develop and deliver the vision for our Modernisation Transformation within the Core Banking Product Crew in Retail Technology. This high availability, modernised platform powers many critical elements of the customer experience for our products.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Define product vision, goals and roadmap, aligned to Crew objectives and purpose, and engage with key stakeholders (Business and Technology) to manage its delivery.

• Accountable for end-to-end value delivery and product lifecycle management (including managing requirements lifecycle, production deployment and release day coordination and sign off). Works with the squad and the crew to determine who is best to perform change request and delivery framework related administrative tasks.

• Act as the voice of the customer and business and translate this for the squad.

• Apply expertise to support prioritisation, balance trade-offs, and explore strategies to successfully achieve business and customer outcomes.

• Accountable for addressing impediments, driving decisions and resolving escalations.

• Drive product exploration (e.g. using design thinking and analytics) and formulate hypotheses to validate product strategy / design.

• Identify, articulate and manage risks, dependencies and compliance across streams of work e.g. customer propositions.

• Maintain a healthy and prioritised backlog to deliver business and customer outcomes.

• Manage senior business and technical stakeholders to ensure that prioritisation is understood and agreed to.

• Manage the squad’s performance to defined objectives including OKR tracking, etc.

• Drive squad effectiveness and agile maturity i.e. sprint burn down, release burn up, and squad/team health in partnership with Agile Coaches and Performance Leads.

• Uses prototyping tools to develop technical designs from product requirements. Participates in model reviews and walk-through. Gathers and records information needed to build models. Analyses the benefits and challenges of prototyping throughout the developmental process. Assists in rapid prototyping projects for a specific product.

• Summarises the rationale for applying quantitative research to a given business situation. Utilises several different quantitative research methods in general terms. Justifies the use of quantitative methods for the analysis of a given situation. Answers basic questions about quantitative research activities that are currently in progress.

• Implements relevant risk management tools and processes for own area.

• Identifies financial, operational or compliance risks relevant to own team or function. Understands and adheres to relevant risk management policies, standards and procedures.

• Participates in the testing, review and enhancement of internal controls.

• Records, escalates and manages issues for identified control weaknesses or gaps.

• Assists with screen blueprints and story boards during the user experience design process. Assesses tools and facilities for graphic mock-ups and expected end results. Participates in usability audits for existing systems. Applies basic human factors and concepts for the design of effective screens and reports. Participates in user experience design walk-through.

Education:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology.
