Key Purpose of the Job:

  • To carry out all needed activities for the development of new products through the process of the generating new concepts and new technical solutions and, in supporting the Product Development activities.
  • Carry out all needed activities within the portfolio to achieve exceptional results through – personal effectiveness, partnering with others & building customer loyalty fulfilling their needs in an efficient & effective manner.

Profile of the Job Holder:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering stream.
  • 3-6 Years of relevant functional work experience.
  • Being an individual contributor, the position holder is an epitome of “Doing things correctly” & “Right from me”
  • Highly motivated & self-initiator with good communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

Key Skill & Knowledge Profile:

  • Good knowledge of Solid Works 3D environment, Drawings and BOM
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Hydraulics & Pneumatics systems components like Pump & motors, Control Valves, direction control valves, check valves, Reservoirs, Cylinders, Accumulators and fluid filters and sizing and selection of the same.
  • Strong analytical skills as well as the ability and commitment to produce highly accurate work
  • Skill to do tolerance stack up analysis
  • Knowledge on GD &T, form fit & function of a product
  • Good understanding of mechanical behavior & properties of materials
  • Knowledge in application of measurement to manufacturing & other process
  • Ability to design and perform benchmarking studies (Dimensional, Functional, Metallurgical parameters
  • Skill in preparing product requirement specification documents
  • Skill in performing functional impact analysis
  • Support estimation & scheduling
  • Comprehension knowledge on Product development Process (PDP), NMO (New market offer) & Engineering to order (ETO)
  • Read and understand descriptions, communications, reports, tables, diagrams, directions, regulations, etc.
  • Experience in using Failure Theories for product design
  • Feasibility study - Conducting list of activities prior to actual product design & development
  • Knowledge on technical gates & the detailed documentation involved
  • Experience in working on Strength of Material, Mechanical Design & Fatigue Theories
  • Good knowledge of PFMEA, DFMEA, DFA & DFM (Safety, functional, etc.),
  • Working knowledge of concept evaluation techniques and DoE principles
  • Route cause analysis and Problem-solving techniques
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Excel, MS Power Point Presentations is an added advantage

Key Responsibilities

Product Development Process: 60%

  • To plan product development activities, according to project priorities using document templates as recommended in PDP process
  • To plan and develop projects inside the concept development area to generate, disseminate and promote new and emerging product concepts and designs
  • Traceability of requirements through concepts generation, concept evaluation and selection and embodiment stages
  • To be responsible to follow the Product Development Process and the use of the DfSS tools to achieve robust design
  • To release and apply the design rules in force for the related products and the quality procedures requested for the Product Design process
  • To develop design rules for products
  • To prepare embodiment designs demonstrating concepts
  • To be responsible for design feasibility and manufacturability (DFM), involving suppliers, manufacturing and other supporting functions
  • To advance and document development results for systematic design or application advice
  • To maintain and manage the documents related to the definition of the products in Windchill database from enquiries handling to prototype production

Reviews & Reporting: 15%

  • Ensure adherence to project close out activities – Project tracker updates & Report archiving accordingly to activity & process defined
  • Active participation in reviews and technical gate (TG) meetings with stakeholders
  • Ensure regular, open and clear reporting on project status (schedule, cost and quality) & technical compliance to stakeholders during project reviews taking into consideration local customs, cultural practices, differences and any language difficulties
  • Support preparation of presentation material to update stakeholders and to key management forums.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives: 10%

  • Identify & plan improvement actions to improve Productivity & Quality.
  • Identify, Define & Maintain basic elements of a Quality system, including Planning, Control and improvement through effective audit program
  • Identifies and review root causes for the deviations and plans corrective and preventive actions to resolve the same
  • To follow management instructions and procedures to report Safety Health and Environment (SHE) risks and SHE related incidents to follow quality specifications and requirements and identify quality risks and opportunities for improvement.

Competency Development: 5%

  • Conduct self-appraisal to identify competency gaps
  • Show willingness and self-drive to upgrade the technical competency on regular basis
  • Adhere to competency development plan drawn out in consultation with team leader
  • Active participation in knowledge sharing sessions and group learning sessions
  • Mentor juniors on certain competencies and contribute to their individual.
