Job Description

As a CPU/Processor characterisation Engineer, you will be working on IBM Server Processor performance analysis and tuning, functional validation, microbenchmark development, workload characterisation, workload tracing & scoping using various lab equipment’s.Roles and Responsibilities

Define, develop and execute electrical, functional, and system test plans to verify system functionality and product specification using hardware and software validation tools.

Develop workloads to understand performance characteristics of CPU

Conduct detailed workload characterisation on silicon

Collect & analyse CPU performance data for various workloads

Develop tools and techniques to collect workload traces which can be fed to the design/modelling/simulation teams for failure analysis & debug.

Verify & triage issues and connect with relevant stake holders to resolve problems

Utilise software tools, lab equipment such as oscilloscopes/probes/logic analyser to analyse & debug electrical and functional test data in support of production

Required education Bachelor's Degree Preferred education Master's Degree Required technical and professional expertise Required Skills and Experience:

Excellent understanding of the validation and debug flows of a complex high-speed Processor

Knowledge and experience of CPU architecture/microarchitecture, prior development experience in CPU/System power/performance analysis/modelling/design and/or, workload analysis/characterisation/software optimisation

Must have experience in electrical, functional, and system test plans used to verify system functionality and product specification using hardware and software validation tools.

Ability to work efficiently alone as well as part of geographically distributed teams across multiple groups

Must have experience in using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, DMM, Probes

4+ years of hands-on experience in System development (Processors)

Bachelors or Masters in Hardware Engineering/Electronics or related field, with technical expertise to fit the roles and responsibilities provided above.
