Principal Technical Artist
to join our Bingo Bash team in Bangalore on a hybrid basis! Bingo Bash is a highly international team working on the biggest video game from India to date (measured by revenue). Here you will work on a top-grossing F2P game with significant and growing daily revenues, and help create fresh content for our players.
What You ll Do
Were seeking a highly experienced and visionary Principal Technical Artist to elevate Bingo Bashs technical art pipeline and processes. This is a critical leadership role that will bridge the gap between our robust art production and technical implementation, ensuring our visual fidelity scales with performance, efficiency, and our ambitious content cadence. A key aspect of this role is to act as a hands-on mentor, significantly uplifting the core technical art skills of our existing team. You will be instrumental in optimizing workflows, standardizing practices, and guiding our talented Technical Art team as we continue to innovate and expand the games visual landscape.

Strategic Pipeline Ownership:
Define, optimize, and maintain the end-to-end technical art pipeline for Bingo Bash, from asset creation to in-game implementation across all platforms (iOS, Android, Web, Kindle) -
Technical Art Leadership & Hands-on Mentorship:
Lead, mentor, and technically guide a team of 10 Technical Artists. Provide direct, hands-on training and guidance to enhance the teams proficiency in core Unity technical art skills, including C# scripting for tools, advanced VFX creation, and shader development. Foster a culture of excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the team -
Workflow Enhancement:
Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in current art asset creation and integration workflows. Design and implement solutions that streamline processes, leveraging automation and best practices to boost artist productivity. Implement procedural workflows wherever possible -
Performance & Optimization:
Drive initiatives to optimize 2D and emerging 3D art assets (textures, animations, UI, particle systems, meshes) for performance, memory, and build size across all target platforms, ensuring a smooth and engaging player experience without compromising visual quality -
Tool Development & Automation:
Design, develop, and deploy robust custom tools, scripts, and plugins (primarily in Unity/C# and Python) to automate repetitive tasks, validate assets, and enhance artistic capabilities. A key aspect of these tools and systems is that they would be reusable across future projects. You will be instrumental in teaching the team how to build and maintain these tools effectively -
Shader & Visual Effects Mastery:
Develop and maintain optimized 2D and 3D shaders, materials, and particle systems that align with the games vibrant art style and performance requirements. You will be key in transferring this expertise to the team -
Technical Collaboration:
Act as a primary liaison between Art, Engineering, Design, and Product teams to ensure seamless integration of art assets, effective communication of technical constraints, and alignment on visual goals. Represent Technical Art in roadmap planning and cross-discipline discussions -
Quality Assurance & Standards:
Establish and enforce technical art standards, best practices, and asset naming conventions. Collaborate with QA to ensure visual stability and identify rendering issues. Do regular code reviews to make sure the quality standards are met -
R&D and Innovation:
Research, evaluate, and prototype new technologies, tools, and workflows in the technical art space, particularly in Unitys 2D and emerging 3D rendering capabilities, to push the visual boundaries of Bingo Bash -
Documentation:
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for technical art pipelines, tools, and best practices
What we re looking for
- 8+ years of experience as a Technical Artist in game development, with at least 3+ years in a Principal, Lead, or Senior role demonstrating significant ownership and a strong track record of mentoring and upskilling technical art teams
- Extensive hands-on expertise with Unity, especially its 2D rendering pipeline, animation systems (e.g., Spine, Sprites, UI animations), and UI Canvas
- Deep and demonstrable proficiency in C# scripting for Unity (including Editor scripting for tools), and strong Python scripting skills. Experience in creating and maintaining complex tools
- Expertise in real-time VFX creation from scratch within Unity, understanding performance implications for mobile
- Advanced understanding of real-time rendering principles, shader development (HLSL/GLSL/Shader Graph), and optimizing materials for performance
- Proven expertise in optimizing 2D and 3D art assets for mobile platforms (iOS, Android) and web (Facebook)
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical and artistic issues
- A strong eye for visual quality and a deep appreciation for the unique art style and vibrant nature of Bingo Bash
- Experience working in a live service game environment with a fast-paced content cadence and regular updates
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (Artists, Engineers, Designers, Product Managers)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- A passion for games, particularly the casual and social genres, and a keen understanding of player engagement in live service titles
Bonus Points
- Experience with 3D modeling and animation software (Maya, Blender, etc.) for current and future 3D integrations
- Familiarity with analytics-driven development and player segmentation
- Prior experience in a large-scale, multi-team studio environment
- Experience with procedural content generation techniques
