Principal Engineer (Technical Lead)

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and direction for the Platform Engineering team, defining standards for architecture, design, and implementation.
  
• Lead the design and implementation of core infrastructure components, including artifact management, source control, and CI/CD pipelines.
  
• Develop and maintain automation frameworks for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment.
  
• Champion best practices for development, deployment, and operations while guiding both the team and cross-functional stakeholders.
  
• Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  
• Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and tools to enhance platform performance, scalability, and security.
  
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring availability, reliability, and performance of platform services.
  
• Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to deliver seamless integration of platform capabilities.
  
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for platform architecture and components.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
  
• 7+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or full-stack engineering.
  
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  
• Expertise in containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  
• Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  
• Deep understanding of CI/CD principles and tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI).
  
• Experience with monitoring and logging solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership and mentor engineers.
  
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  

Nice to Have

• Experience with GitOps methodologies.
  
• Knowledge of service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
  
• Familiarity with cloud security best practices.
  
• Contributions to open-source projects.
  
• Prior experience leading small, agile engineering teams.
