Principal Mechanical Engineering Manager

As an Engineering Manager at Microsoft's Devices Team, you will play a crucial role in leading a multidisciplinary team to drive simulation-led design and product development for Surface and next-generation devices. Your technical expertise in mechanical and/or electrical engineering will be essential in delivering high-impact hardware products. Here's a breakdown of what your role will entail: Responsibilities: - Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team focused on simulation-led hardware design, system integration, and innovative product development. - Drive complex hardware programs, from strategic planning to end-to-end technical execution, ensuring successful mass production. - Utilize your expertise in mechanical and/or electrical engineering to guide system-level design and integration, with a strong emphasis on multiphysics simulation. - Advocate for the integration of AI/ML-enhanced simulation and design workflows to enhance development cycles and predictive accuracy. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on product goals and address complex challenges, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Qualifications: Required: - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 10+ years of related technical engineering experience, OR Master's Degree with 8+ years of experience, OR equivalent experience. - 15+ years of experience in hardware engineering, including mechanical or electrical domains. - 3+ years of engineering leadership experience. - 3+ years of experience with FEA simulation. - Demonstrated experience in integrating AI/ML into engineering workflows and leading and growing teams. - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Preferred: - Experience with PCB design and eCAD tools is a bonus. - Proven track record of delivering high-quality hardware products at scale. - Effective communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and executive audiences.
