Principal Mechanical Engineering Manager

As an Engineering Manager at Microsoft's Devices Team, you will play a crucial role in leading a multidisciplinary team focused on simulation-led design and development for Surface and other next-generation devices. Your expertise in mechanical and/or electrical engineering will be essential in guiding the team to deliver high-impact hardware products. **Responsibilities:** - Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team specializing in simulation-led hardware design and product development. - Drive complex hardware programs from strategic planning to technical execution, ensuring end-to-end success. - Utilize deep expertise in mechanical and/or electrical engineering to influence system-level design decisions through multiphysics simulations. - Advocate for the adoption of AI/ML-enhanced simulation workflows to enhance development cycles and predictive accuracy. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on product goals and address complex challenges. - Mentor engineers, shape technical direction, and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. **Qualifications:** *Required Qualifications:* - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 10+ years of technical engineering experience OR Master's Degree with 8+ years of experience OR equivalent. - 15+ years of experience in hardware engineering, focusing on mechanical or electrical domains. - 3+ years of engineering leadership experience. - 3+ years of experience with FEA simulation. - Demonstrated experience in integrating AI/ML into engineering workflows. - Proven track record of leading and growing teams, collaborating with geographically distributed partner teams, and strong communication skills. *Preferred Qualifications:* - Experience with PCB design and eCAD tools. - Proven track record of delivering high-quality hardware products at scale. - Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and executive audiences.
