Role Overview Description We're looking for a seasoned Principal Backend Engineer to join the team and lead the development of high-performance backend systems. If you have deep expertise in NodeJS, AWS, building scalable APIs, and you're passionate about mentoring others and driving technical strategy, we'd love to connect! Responsibilities : Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable backend systems and services. Architect robust, scalable, and secure APIs, primarily using NestJS, hosted in AWS. Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and ensure high-quality product delivery. Drive the selection and use of backend, data, and cloud platform technologies. Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement. Conduct code reviews and design discussions to maintain high standards of code quality and system design. Implement comprehensive testing strategies to ensure system reliability and performance. Stay current with industry trends and advancements to continually improve our technology stack and processes. Play a critical role in defining and executing the technical strategy and vision for the backend team. Qualifications: 7+ years of relevant work experience in backend development, with a strong focus on scale. Deep expertise in relational databases preferably PostgreSQL and managing schema migrations. Significant experience with cloud technologies, especially AWS. Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks, particularly with NodeJS and NestJS. Proven experience in designing and implementing complex, scalable API architectures. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on system performance and scalability. Strong understanding of containerization technologies like Docker Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform. BS in Computer Science or a related area of study; advanced degree preferred. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to a broad audience. Bonus Points : Expertise in implementing microservices architectures. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks. Knowledge of data analytics and machine learning integration. Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
