About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Principal Architect Digital Commerce to lead the enterprise architecture and vision for our digital commerce ecosystem in the travel sector. This role focuses on designing scalable, flexible, and simple platform architectures that drive direct-to-consumer (D2C) conversions, increase customer engagement, and maximize revenue through seamless integration of marketplace products and loyalty partners. The ideal candidate will connect marketplace ecosystems and loyalty programs into our sales funnel via plug-and-play architectural designs that foster rapid innovation and performance-led growth across all digital channels.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Architecture & Vision
- Define and execute the enterprise architecture strategy for digital commerce platforms focusing on travel and marketplace ecosystems.
- Design architectures that enable plug-and-play integration of marketplace partners and loyalty programs with core commerce channels.
- Develop simplified, scalable, and modular platform blueprints that promote rapid onboarding of commerce and marketplace products.
- Collaborate with business, marketing, and product teams to align architecture with customer engagement, revenue growth, and performance KPIs.
Driving D2C Conversions & Revenue
- Architect solutions that optimize conversion rates, average basket sizes, and customer lifetime value on web, mobile, and emerging digital channels.
- Embed data-driven design principles and measurable KPIs to track and improve commerce funnel performance end-to-end.
- Introduce architectural capabilities for personalized customer experiences leveraging loyalty data and marketplace insights.
Marketplace & Loyalty Integration
- Lead architecture for integrating new marketplace products into the existing purchase funnel to expand revenue streams.
- Enable seamless, secure, and scalable API-first connections between marketplace partners, loyalty platforms, and the airline's commerce engines.
- Establish governance and standards for partner onboarding and service-level agreements ensuring consistent user experience and operational reliability.
Collaboration & Influence
- Work closely with product owners, engineering teams, and external partners to foster collaboration and ensure architectural alignment.
- Evangelize best practices in commerce platform engineering, API design, and partner ecosystem enablement.
- Guide technical teams on implementation nuances ensuring architecture principles are consistently applied in delivery.
Required Experience & Skills
- 1216 years of experience in enterprise architecture roles focused on digital commerce, preferably in travel or related sectors.
- Strong knowledge of commerce platforms, marketplace architectures, loyalty integration, and customer engagement technologies.
- Experience designing and delivering scalable, modular digital commerce solutions that support D2C channels and partner ecosystems.
- Expertise in API-driven architecture, microservices, and event-driven systems supporting marketplace and loyalty integrations.
- Data-driven mindset with experience embedding performance monitoring and customer behavior insights into platform design.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex business needs into scalable architectural solutions and influence cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working in agile, product-led development environments.
