Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic PR Journalist to manage media communications, craft impactful narratives, and strengthen the public image of a political leader. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of political communication, storytelling, and ground-level media dynamics. This role requires someone who can convert political activities and social work into engaging public stories across print, electronic, and digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write and edit press releases, statements, opinion articles, and political commentary for media distribution.
  • Cover and document public meetings, campaigns, inaugurations, and social initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with journalists, editors, and media houses at regional and national levels.
  • Coordinate press conferences, interviews, and media interactions.
  • Prepare daily news briefs and media monitoring reports highlighting relevant political coverage and public sentiment.
  • Develop and pitch story ideas that enhance the leader’s image and visibility.
  • Collaborate with the social media and content team to ensure message alignment across platforms.
  • Assist in framing responses to media queries, crisis statements, and rebuttals when needed.
  • Ensure factual accuracy and consistent tone in all public communications.
  • Maintain an archive of all press coverage and media outputs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Political Science, or a related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in political reporting, PR, or media handling.
  • Excellent command of English and Hindi (knowledge of the regional language preferred).
  • Strong writing, editing, and interviewing skills with the ability to craft persuasive narratives.
  • Deep understanding of media operations, political reporting, and public communication strategies.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, especially during events or campaigns.
  • Willingness to travel frequently for on-ground coverage and media coordination.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience covering or handling political communications or government affairs.
  • Strong network of media contacts in print, television, and digital sectors.
  • Understanding of public sentiment, political tone, and narrative framing.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Basic knowledge of digital PR tools and familiarity with content management workflows.
