Job Title: Power Electronics Engineer High Voltage Applications

Department: Engineering R&D / Product Engineering

Industry: Medical Devices / Healthcare Technology

Reporting to: Head of Engineering / CTO

Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Power Electronics Engineer to design, develop, and test high-voltage power electronic systems

and components for critical applications. The role involves working with systems above 1kV, including converters, inverters, high-voltage

supplies, and related circuitry for industrial, medical, or renewable energy devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-voltage power electronic circuits including DC-DC converters, inverters, rectifiers, and SMPS.

  • Select and simulate appropriate topologies for high-efficiency, high-reliability applications.

  • Conduct thermal, electrical, and EMI/EMC analysis for power circuits and systems.

  • Perform PCB design with high voltage creepage/clearance and isolation requirements in mind.

  • Collaborate with embedded engineers for control implementation using DSPs, FPGAs, or microcontrollers.

  • Prototype and test high-voltage systems, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex design issues including switching noise, insulation breakdown, or parasitic losses.

  • Document design processes, calculations, and validation reports in line with ISO and regulatory guidelines.

  • Support regulatory testing (IEC, UL, ISO 60601, etc.) and product certifications.

  • Work cross-functionally with mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.

  • 57 years of hands-on experience in high-voltage power electronics (1kV to 100kV range).

  • Strong knowledge of power semiconductor devices (IGBTs, SiC/GaN FETs, MOSFETs).

  • Experience with simulation tools (LTSpice, PSIM, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink).

  • Proficiency in PCB design (Altium, Eagle, KiCAD) with focus on high-voltage layout practices.

  • Knowledge of insulation techniques, dielectric materials, and thermal management.

  • Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards (IEC 60601, IEC 61010, UL, etc.).

  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with X-ray systems, medical devices, or industrial high-voltage systems.

  • Knowledge of magnetics design – transformers, inductors, etc.

  • Experience with high-frequency switching (50kHz–500kHz) systems.

  • Understanding of HV connectors, enclosures, and insulation coordination.

Work Environment:

  • Lab-based testing with high-voltage safety protocols.

  • Occasional field support or vendor interactions.

  • Requires use of PPE and safety training for HV operations.

  • Travel 10 to 20 % of the time.
