Power BI and Snowflake Architect

Role Summary

We are looking for a senior software engineer who can own reporting, and analytics end to end using Power BI and Snowflake.

This role is both hands on and architectural. The person will design data models, build reports, manage the Snowflake and Power BI environments, and work closely with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success teams.

The role supports internal analytics and customer facing reporting in a regulated SaaS environment.

Key Responsibilities

Power BI Development and Reporting

• Design and build Power BI reports and dashboards for business and product use cases
• Create semantic models using Power BI datasets and dataflows
• Write optimized DAX measures and calculated columns
• Implement row level security and workspace level access controls
• Ensure reports are performant, accurate, and easy to use
• Maintain report documentation and data definitions
  

Snowflake Data Architecture and Management

• Design and manage Snowflake schemas, tables, views, and warehouses
• Develop and optimize SQL queries for reporting and analytics
• Manage data ingestion pipelines from application databases and external sources
• Monitor Snowflake performance, cost usage, and storage
• Implement data partitioning, clustering, and optimization strategies
  

Architecture and Environment Ownership

• Act as the architect for Power BI and Snowflake analytics stack
• Define standards for data modeling, naming, versioning, and access control
• Manage Power BI workspaces, gateways, and deployment pipelines
• Set up dev, test, and production environments
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and security
  

Collaboration and Stakeholder Support

• Work closely with Product Managers to understand reporting requirements
• Support Customer Success teams with customer specific analytics needs
• Partner with Engineering teams to align source data and events
• Translate business questions into data models and reports
• Support audits and compliance requirements related to data access
  

Governance and Compliance

• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and traceability
• Maintain audit friendly access and change controls
• Follow secure data handling practices
• Support compliance needs such as access reviews and report validation
  

Required Skills and Experience

Mandatory Skills

• Strong hands on experience with Power BI development
• Advanced knowledge of DAX, Power Query, and data modeling
• Strong experience with Snowflake SQL and architecture
• Experience designing star and snowflake schemas
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts
• Experience managing Power BI and Snowflake environments
  

Technical Skills

• Advanced SQL skills
• Experience with ETL or ELT pipelines
• Experience with Azure based data integrations
• Understanding of REST APIs and data ingestion patterns
• Experience with Git or version control for BI assets
  

Nice to Have

• Experience in SaaS or product companies
• Experience in regulated domains such as pharma, healthcare, or finance
• Experience with Power BI deployment pipelines
• Knowledge of performance tuning and cost optimization in Snowflake
