Plumbing Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct detailed studies of site conditions, including review of LOD drawings, as-built documentation, site photographs, and proposed design files to fully understand the project scope and constraints.
• Collaborate with architects and design teams to ensure plumbing systems are well-integrated and do not conflict with architectural intent or other services.
• Identify and communicate design implications or required adjustments in a timely and effective manner.
• Draft and manage RFIs (Requests for Information) through professional email communication with clients, contractors, or relevant authorities (e.g., airport authorities), to resolve missing or unclear plumbing tap-off information.
• Prepare plumbing infrastructure layout drawings to assess site feasibility, including validation of core-cut locations, indicative tap-off point locations, and available screed height.
• Coordinate with kitchen designers to validate plumbing requirements and ensure all design inputs are technically accurate and well-coordinated.
• Lead the preparation of plumbing designs at all stages: concept, schematic, detailed design, tender, and construction documentation.
• Coordinate plumbing layouts with other MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) disciplines to avoid clashes and optimize service routing.
• Perform essential design calculations and equipment selections, including:
• Hydraulic calculations
• Water consumption and tank sizing
• Water heater capacity
• Grease trap sizing
• Filtration system sizing
• Pipe sizing
• Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for plumbing systems to support tendering and cost estimation.
• Review and comment on contractor-submitted shop drawings to ensure alignment with design intent, project specifications, and relevant standards.
• Evaluate and approve plumbing-related materials, fixtures, equipment, and accessories submitted by contractors or vendors.
• Provide timely technical responses and clarifications during the design and construction phases, addressing queries from contractors, architects, and clients.
