Design Engineer Company: Engineering Location: Hyderabad, India Overview: • Setup Planning (in liaison with Design Engineering team) • Understanding design challenges and resolve design problems can handle 3D Modelling tasks related to mould design/ modification and part modelling • Can handle drafting tasks related to mould, shell, FRP and panel drawings • Understanding of engineering drawings and related standards • Arrange review of work by reporting person Ability to understand composite materials (material, manufacturing techniques, in-house variants of tooling) • Ability to coordinate among the design and other departments in the company • Ability to interpret structural documents to the correct choice of process, tooling, and panel detailing • Ability to work across different mould tasks and capture optimization opportunities to save time and/ or costs Ability to analyse a given surface to propose tweaking points and/ or design modification to save time and/ or cost Support communication flow within the department and between key stakeholders, including: • Bill of Materials and materials specification • Milestone information • Design changes • MRB Role & responsibilities
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Design Engineer to manage and lead design activities, provide project oversight, and serve as a critical liaison between onshore and offshore teams. The role includes responsibilities in quotation estimation, client relationship management, technical query resolution, and financial coordination, making it ideal for a multidisciplinary professional with strong communication and organizational skills. Key Responsibilities: Design & Engineering: Lead and review detailed engineering design work, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with project requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (onshore and offshore) to resolve technical queries efficiently. Ensure design deliverables are on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards. Project Management: Manage end-to-end execution of projects from design to delivery. Develop and track project plans, timelines, and deliverables. Coordinate resources and lead status meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Mitigate risks and ensure smooth project execution. Client Interface & Business Development: Act as a primary point of contact for client communications. • Understand client needs and translate them into actionable engineering tasks. Support in securing new projects by participating in technical discussions and presenting capabilities. Prepare and present proposals and engineering quotations to clients. Quotation & Estimation: Provide technical inputs for quotation preparation including man-hours and cost estimation. Analyze project scope and prepare estimation documents for client review. Collaborate with business development and sales teams to refine and submit proposals. Financial & Invoicing Support: Assist the finance team in tracking project-related costs and invoicing. • Ensure timely submission of invoices and support with client payment follow-ups. Monitor project budgets and alert leadership on deviations. Qualifications & Skills: Bachelors degree in engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil/etc.) or related field. 7+ years of engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership/project management role. Proven experience handling offshore and onsite coordination. • Strong skills in design tools and engineering software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, etc. as applicable). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong understanding of project cost estimation and budgeting. Prior exposure to client interaction and proposal development. Experience working with finance or ERP tools is a plus. Preferred Attributes: • PMP or equivalent certification (desirable but not mandatory). • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. • Proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-focused mindset.
