The Database Engineering team at Dynamic Yield is seeking a Platform Engineer II to innovate and problem-solve, driving our customer experience strategy forward. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset. You will provide Redis Database support for Dynamic Yield's application databases in On-Prem and Cloud environments, including AWS ElastiCache. As a Platform Engineer II, you'll play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Dynamic Yield's database systems. This involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, optimize database performance, and ensure data integrity and security, all while maintaining best practices. Roles and Responsibilities Database Management & Optimization: Configure, patch, upgrade, and/or optimize database software and related products. Understand database security topics, including database users, roles, and privileges. Possess intermediate skills in testing, diagnosing, and resolving database issues. Participate in the development, maintenance, testing, implementation, and support of assigned database technologies and associated software products. Demonstrate a solid understanding of creating and implementing Data Definition Language (DDL) to support development efforts. Possess basic to intermediate performance and tuning skills, with the ability to identify, respond to, and resolve database performance issues, and communicate resolutions to technical teams. Collaboration & Communication: Partner with technology teams and customers to understand business needs and communicate solutions in business terms (with mentoring). Communicate, collaborate, and work effectively in a global environment. Possess good written and verbal communication skills to promote sound database structures, data governance, standards, and procedures to internal and external teams. Demonstrate good documentation skills to contribute to Database Engineering processes and procedures. Operational Adherence & Project Involvement: Successfully follow change management, problem management, and incident management processes and procedures. May manage smaller projects/initiatives with specialized knowledge within the assigned discipline. Availability: Ability to be on-call after hours and weekends. Learning & Best Practices: Ability to learn Dynamic Yield best practices in planning, coordinating, implementing, and maintaining database solutions. Skills and Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Database Expertise: Proven work experience as a Database Engineer or similar role, with expertise in managing Oracle or PostgreSQL databases . Strong understanding of Database Management Systems (DBMS), especially Oracle or PostgreSQL . Experience with database design, normalization, and optimization techniques . Familiarity with database recovery and availability principles, including defining and implementing database backup and recovery principles to guarantee point-in-time recovery for different database technologies. Experience defining and implementing database resiliency strategy to test and account for different failure scenarios (e.g., network, disaster, power). Operating Systems & Automation: Proficiency in working with Windows and Linux based operating systems. Proficiency in automation tools such as Chef and Ansible , with scripting knowledge in Python and Shell . Monitoring & Security: Advanced skills in monitoring and reporting tools such as OEM, PEM, Dynatrace, and Splunk . Familiarity with database security best practices, including implementation of SSL/TLS, TDE (Transparent Data Encryption), Access Management principles, and authentication mechanisms such as LDAP/AD.
