Plant Operator

Job Summary

The Welder / Fitter is responsible for fitting, welding, fabrication, installation, and repair of metal structures, machinery parts, and pipelines to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform welding operations (ARC / MIG / TIG / Gas welding as applicable)
• Carry out fitting, alignment, and assembly of mechanical parts
• Fabricate and repair structures, frames, platforms, and pipelines
• Read and understand fabrication drawings and measurements
• Cut, grind, and finish metal parts as per specifications
• Attend to mechanical breakdowns and perform repair works
• Ensure welding quality and dimensional accuracy
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE during welding and fitting work
• Maintain welding machines, tools, and consumables
• Support preventive maintenance and shutdown activities

Qualifications & Experience

• ITI / Trade Certificate in Welder / Fitter
• 1–5 years of experience in industrial welding and fitting
• Welding certification (preferred)
• Skills & Competencies
• Knowledge of welding techniques and equipment
• Ability to read drawings and take accurate measurements
• Knowledge of safety practices and fire precautions
• Basic knowledge of gas cutting and fabrication tools
• Good teamwork and communication skills
• Preferred Experience

• Experience in manufacturing / heavy engineering plants
• Knowledge of structural fabrication and piping works
• Experience in shutdown and maintenance activities
• Working Conditions

• Plant / workshop-based role
• Shift duties and Rotational shifts
