Role & responsibilities

NICMAR training strengthens competencies in project management, contract management, planning tools, risk management, and project controls.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering

  • NICMAR certification

Experience required:

  • Proven track record in handling Industrial Construction base-built projects

Willingness to work on-site throughout Karnataka

  • Proficiency in MSP for construction projects (Level 5 or above), with excellent presentation skills, report generation abilities, and experience in design/project meeting coordination

  • Demonstrated project management expertise

  • Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Baseline Preparation

  • Develop the

    Master Project Schedule

    using tools like Primavera (P6) or MS Project.
  • Prepare detailed schedules for

    civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and utility works

    .
  • Establish planning deliverables such as:
    • Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
    • Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules
    • Resource-loaded schedules
    • Cost-loaded schedules
  • Define milestones, dependencies, sequencing, and interfaces between trades.

2. Project Monitoring, Tracking & Reporting

  • Monitor project progress against the baseline schedule using earned value management (EVM).
  • Conduct weekly and monthly schedule updates and identify deviations.
  • Prepare MIS reports, dashboards, and progress S-curves for management.
  • Measure productivity and analyze slippages to determine root causes.
  • Forecast completion dates and advise stakeholders on recovery measures.

3. Cost Control & Budget Monitoring

  • Track project costs, commitments, and cash flows.
  • Assist in preparation of project budgets and cost estimates.
  • Perform variance analysis between planned vs. actual cost and time.
  • Support cost optimization initiatives and value engineering exercises.

4. Contract Management & Claims

  • Review contract documents, scope of work, and technical specifications.
  • Track contractual obligations, deliverables, and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare supporting documents for extension of time (EOT) claims, variations, and change orders.
  • Coordinate with contractors and consultants for claim substantiation.

5. Documentation & Project Control Systems

  • Maintain project documentation including:
    • Drawings (IFC, shop drawings, revisions)
    • RFI logs
    • Inspection records
    • Quality documentation
    • Method statements & work procedures
  • Develop and maintain

    Document Control Systems

    using DMS platforms (Aconex, Procore, Asite, etc.).
  • Ensure version control, proper filing, and traceability of all project documents.

6. Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with design teams, contractors, consultants, client representatives, and procurement departments.
  • Lead weekly progress review meetings and align all stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely flow of drawings, approvals, and material submittals.
  • Facilitate communication between execution teams and senior management.

7. Risk Analysis & Mitigation Planning

  • Conduct risk assessments and identify schedule-related risks.
  • Prepare risk registers and propose mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Analyze high-impact events affecting industrial projects, such as machinery delays or specialized equipment installation.

8. Procurement Planning & Material Tracking

  • Develop procurement schedules aligned with project timelines.
  • Track long-lead items such as structural steel, industrial equipment, and specialized machinery.
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely material delivery to prevent delays.

9. Quality, Safety & Compliance Support

  • Ensure planning supports quality and safety requirements.
  • Track inspection schedules, quality documentation, and compliance with codes and standards.
  • Plan sequences to reduce rework, site congestion, and safety hazards.

10. Reporting to Senior Management & Clients

  • Provide executive-level dashboards and summary reports.
  • Present schedule risks, recovery plans, and mitigation strategies.
  • Support decision-making by analyzing scenarios and critical path impacts.
