Responsible for Identification and design of piping systems for new built vessels such as offshore platforms, rigs, oil tankers, bulk carriers, passenger vessels, small vessels etc. as well as providing engineering support for major conversion projects such as FPSO, FSO, Topside. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Policies, Processes & Procedures: • Implement approved departmental policies, processes, procedures and provide instructions to subordinates and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner. • Ensure employees are aware and follow the information Security Rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties. Day- to-day operations: • To lead basic & detail design engineering activities for the assigned project(s) in Oil & Gas offshore plants, Offshore Drilling Rigs, FSRUs, FPSOs, other ships and in accordance with the Company established procedures and to independently manage projects • Responsible for activity planning, work scheduling, assigning responsibilities to engineers & designers, and monitoring to meet the project schedule with resource optimization • Responsible for engineering budget control and change management. • Review of PFD, P&ID, project specific specifications, design calculation / analysis and procurement specification for Marine systems and to support process engineering for utilities design. • Review of analysis jobs done by other engineers in softwares such as pipe stress analysis, hydraulic calculation • Shall be expert in Marine System’s designs / execution and calculation of capacities of auxiliary equipment’s (viz. pumps, heat exchanger) for new build / conversion / ship repair project(s) • Expertise in FSRUs & FPSOs conversions, LNG / NG ship conversion projects a plus • Expertise in pressure vessel designs as per ASME Sec.VIII a plus • Experience in BWMS & Exhaust Gas Cleaning scrubber retrofit engineering desirable • Good knowledge of ASME code and Classification rules to select and specify piping class, specification, materials. • Experience in offshore topside /FPSO topside piping detailed engineering • Full understanding of the marine system’s /safety and equipment involved. • Engineering Interface and coordination with other disciplines, user departments and clients. Estimation of engineering works and establishes scope of work related to bids and associated equipment lists, auxiliary equipment sizing and piping MTOs. Participate in design reviews and take necessary follow up actions. People Management: • Supervise the activities and work of subordinates by providing formal and informal feedback to ensure that all work within a specific area is carried out in an efficient manner and in accordance with set individual targets. Continuous Improvement: • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement. Reporting: • Prepare reports of assigned project on time and accurately to meet company and department requirements, policies and standards Safety, Quality & Environment: • Comply with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment Related Assignments: • Perform other related duties or assignments as directed on order to contribute to the continuous operations of the department KEY COMPETENCIES Language skills: • Must be fluent in English. • Knowledge of subcontinent languages are an added advantage • Very good knowledge in technical terms and report writing skills. Technical competencies: • Fully trained and knowledgeable with relevant Safety and Occupational Health & Safety standards. • Broad Engineering knowledge in Marine / offshore construction, conversions, repairs. • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines. • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and successfully execute tasks in accordance with business objectives. • Familiar with the marine classification societies rules, IMO regulations and other engineering standards such as ASME Sec. II & VIII, BS / EN, NORSOK. API • Project management and planning skills. DIMENSIONS (PROVIDE DATA THAT INDICATES SCALE OF THE JOB) – TO BE VALIDATED • Lead and coordinate engineering team of 50 - 100 personnel. CHALLENGES (MAJOR CHALLENGES OF THE ROLE – NOT MORE THAN 5) – TO BE VALIDATED • Managing projects with multi-skill requirement with the available limited resources • Varied project requirement over different segments of oil and gas / ship building / new building projects. KEY INTERACTIONS & COMMUNICATIONS (INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL) Internal Nature of Interaction • Directors / Department Heads / Project Managers • Meetings, Presentations, Email, etc. External Nature of Interaction • Clients, Classifications, Societies & Subcontractors • Meetings, Presentations, Email, etc. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Essential Desirable Education • Bachelor’s Degree in one of the Engineering Discipline • Master’s Degree in relevant field Training • Project Management. • Proficient with software such as Microsoft Word/Excel/Project, AutoCAD. • Emphasis on Project Documents preparation for large offshore Yard production lines Experience 10+ years relevant experience in a EPC contractors, engineering office, offshore / shipyards with engineering capabilities to carry out basic and detailed engineering for all activities mentioned in job description, out of which minimum 5 years’ experience shall be as lead engineer in engineering office / shipyards in independently handling of marine / offshore projects • Project management experience in high value projects. • Working experience in major Production / Construction sites and heavy industrial segments. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Working conditions (Indoor /outdoor): • Site visits required as deemed necessary and able to work in the Middle East summer weather conditions.
