Assessing patient needs, reviewing patient history, and determining the reason(s) for drawing blood. Extracting blood from patients through venipuncture or fingersticks. Give Saline, Injection to patient when required. Analyzing blood specimens using the correct testing equipment, when necessary. Keeping and maintaining records of patient names, volume of blood drawn, and diagnostic findings. Cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment used in the drawing and testing of blood specimens. Ordering laboratory supplies, as needed. Properly package each specimen and ensure that every specimen is delivered to the laboratory on time Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rotation. Waste management including collection, handling, segregation, container management, storage and collection Keeping own work areas and general / patient areas generally clean, sterile, identifying issues and hazards / risks in relation to other work areas within the business, and assuming responsibility in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness across the business in consultation (where appropriate) with other sector managers Obtaining subject’s height, weight, elbow breadth, frame size and body mass index Obtaining Vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse oximetry, respiration rate)
