Job Title: Pharmacy Clerk

Department: Pharmacy

Reports to: Chief Pharmacist

Location: Holy Family Hospital

Employment Type: Full Time

Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Clerical Staff is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the pharmacy department to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This includes managing records, data entry, billing support, inventory coordination, and assisting with non-clinical communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform data entry for prescriptions, inventory, and pharmacy transactions into the system.
  • Maintain and update patient and medication records accurately and securely.
  • Process billing, insurance claims, and prescription charges under pharmacist supervision.
  • Handle phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries related to pharmacy services.
  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals for prescription clarification or administrative tasks.
  • Maintain pharmacy files, records, and documentation in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Assist in tracking and managing pharmacy inventory and supplies.
  • Generate reports for stock usage, billing, and patient history as required.
  • Support pharmacists and technicians in non-clinical tasks to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, local drug laws).

Qualifications:

  • Graduation

Working Conditions:

  • Based in a hospital, clinic, or retail pharmacy setting.
  • May involve extended periods of sitting and use of computer systems.
  • Possible shift work including weekends or holidays, depending on the facility.
