Job Description

Job Summary:

The Pharmacist will be responsible for dispensing medications accurately, maintaining stock of drugs, ensuring compliance with medical and legal regulations, and counseling patients on proper medication use. The role requires close coordination with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff to support safe and effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispensing & Patient Care
  • Accurately dispense prescribed medications and check for drug interactions, dosage, and contraindications.
  • Provide clear instructions and counseling to patients on dosage, side effects, and storage of medicines.
  • Guide patients on diabetic, cardiac, and chronic care medications where required.
  • Inventory & Stock Management
  • Maintain proper records of drug receipts, issues, and stock balances.
  • Monitor expiry dates and ensure timely removal of expired/near-expiry drugs.
  • Ensure availability of essential medicines and emergency drugs at all times.
  • Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with Drugs & Cosmetics Act and hospital policies.
  • Maintain patient drug records, billing, and insurance documentation where applicable.
  • Support biomedical waste segregation related to drug disposal.
  • Collaboration
  • Coordinate with doctors and nurses to clarify prescriptions if needed.
  • Participate in clinical meetings when required to discuss drug protocols.
  • Quality & Safety
  • Follow infection control and safety guidelines while handling medicines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy area.
  • Regularly audit and report on drug usage patterns.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm).
  • Valid pharmacy registration/license with State Pharmacy Council.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in hospital/clinical pharmacy preferred.
  • Knowledge of drug interactions, pharmacology, and dosage guidelines.
  • Strong communication and patient counseling skills.
  • Proficiency in using pharmacy/hospital software.

Work Conditions:

  • Location: Hospital Pharmacy / Ward-level supply.
  • Shifts: Rotational shifts including nights/weekends as required.
  • Dress Code: Hospital uniform/coat with ID badge.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹11,000.00 per month
