Job Description

Preferred candidate profile

Clinical & Patient Care

  • Review prescriptions for accuracy, therapeutic appropriateness, interactions, and contraindications.
  • Participate in

    ward rounds

    and collaborate with physicians and nurses to optimize patient treatment plans.
  • Monitor patient response to therapy and report

    adverse drug reactions (ADRs)

    or medication errors.
  • Counsel patients on proper medication use, side effects, and adherence.
  • Support

    antimicrobial stewardship

    and evidence-based prescribing practices.

B. Dispensing & Supply Management

  • Accurately dispense and verify prescriptions for inpatients, outpatients, and discharge medications.
  • Ensure all dispensing complies with

    legal, ethical, and hospital policies.

  • Maintain adequate stock levels, monitor expiry dates, and manage controlled drugs per regulations.
  • Handle procurement issues, drug shortages, and therapeutic substitutions in coordination with medical staff.

C. Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Uphold

    Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP)

    and ensure regulatory compliance with local pharmacy laws.
  • Participate in

    clinical audits, medication safety programs

    , and risk management initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and review of

    Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

    and hospital formularies.

D. Education & Professional Development

  • Provide training, mentorship, and supervision to junior pharmacists, pharmacy interns, and technicians.
  • Stay current with new drugs, treatment protocols, and regulatory updates through

    Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

    .
  • Conduct and participate in

    pharmacy education programs

    , workshops, and interdisciplinary training sessions.

E. Administrative & Support Functions

  • Maintain precise records of controlled substances and inventory documentation.
  • Support

    pharmacovigilance activities

    and ensure timely reporting of ADRs.
  • Participate in

    hospital committees

    (e.g., Drug & Therapeutics Committee, Infection Control).
  • Contribute to cost-effective medicine use and inventory management.

  • Qualifications & Education : Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm)

    from a recognized university (essential), Diploma in Pharmacy
