Position Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for managing the procurement, storage, distribution, and documentation of pharmaceuticals and emergency medical supplies for the 108 Ambulance Service across Maharashtra. This role ensures that all ambulances are stocked with essential medications in compliance with regulatory standards and supports uninterrupted emergency care delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Supply Management

• Maintain accurate inventory of all medications and consumables stored in the central warehouse.
• Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and batch tracking to ensure timely replenishment and safe usage.
• Implement FIFO systems and coordinate with district warehouses for distribution.

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure all pharmaceutical operations comply with CDSCO, NHM, and MEMS guidelines.
• Maintain documentation for controlled substances, temperature-sensitive drugs, and audit readiness.
• Support inspections by health authorities and respond to compliance queries.

Distribution Coordination

• Prepare dispatch schedules for medicines to ambulance hubs and district warehouses.
• Verify packaging, labeling, and documentation before shipment.
• Track deliveries and resolve discrepancies with field teams.

Training & Support

• Train EMTs and paramedics on proper handling and administration of emergency medications.
• Provide guidance on dosage, contraindications, and storage requirements.
• Assist in updating SOPs for drug handling and emergency stock mobilization.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelors degree in Pharmacy (D.Pharm or B.Pharm); registration with Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council.
• Minimum 35 years of experience in pharmaceutical warehousing or hospital pharmacy.
• Familiarity with emergency medications (e.g., epinephrine, aspirin, glucose, naloxone).
• Strong documentation, inventory management, and communication skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and cold chain logistics preferred.
